Anesthesiology - ANES 541

Prerequisites:

Core Internal Medicine and Core General Surgery

Description and Goals:

  • Provide broad insight into the practice of anesthesiology through participation in various subspecialty practices of anesthesiology
  • Demonstrate the function of the anesthesia specialty in preoperative evaluation, intraoperative management, post anesthesia care as well as consultation services in pain management and respiratory care
  • Active, “hands-on” clinical participation in complete perioperative management of surgical patients
  • To develop and cultivate an understanding of the significance and application of the basic sciences in anesthesia practice

The time devoted to each aspect of the specialty will be individualized to meet the career goals of each student.
