Anesthesiology - ANES 541

Prerequisites:

Core Internal Medicine and Core Surgery

Description and Goals:

  • Active, "hands-on", clinical participation, to provide broad insight into the practice of anesthesiology and the background and relevancy to virtually all aspects of patient care.
  • To demonstrate the functions of this specialty in preoperative evaluation, intraoperative management and post anesthesia care as well as consultation services in pain management and respiratory care.
  • To develop and cultivate an understanding of the significance and application of the basic sciences in this branch of medical practice.

The time devoted to each aspect of the specialty will be individualized to meet the career goals of each student.
