Office of Student Affairs
Mission
The Office of Student Affairs provides guidance, advice, and administrative assistance to students enrolled in the University of Maryland School of Medicine. The office is responsible for monitoring student registration, student progress and advancement, graduation, and all aspects of student life related to medical education.
The office coordinates important milestone events for the students including the Student Clinician Ceremony, White Coat Ceremony and Match Day, and manages the Medical Spanish course which is designed to help medical students to improve their spanish speaking skills in a clinical setting.
The Office of Student Affairs provides career advising, and runs the mentoring program, which pairs third and fourth year medical students with faculty members who provide personal and professional guidance, advice and opportunities. In addition, the offices advertises and processes scholarship and fellowship applications, oversees the judicial board process, and verifies alumni certification.
In an effort to encourage and inspire the next generation of physician-scientists, the Office of Student Affairs provides Mini-Medical School, hands on interactive tours and job shadowing for high school students.
