Mission of the HRPP

The mission of the UMB’s HRPP is to cultivate a culture of conscience in the research community to ensure the highest levels of protections and advocacy for research participants by:
 
Ø  actively engaging and working cooperatively with the Institutional Official, Institutional leaders, and all components of the HRPP
Ø  facilitating ethical and scientifically sound research institutional oversight and IRB review processes
Ø  contributing to the knowledge of investigators and research personnel through education and training programs
Ø  communicating with sponsors, and
Ø  serving as a consistent resource for all current, past, and prospective participants .

AAHRPP

The UMB HRPP is preparing for re-accreditation from the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protections Programs (AAHRPP).  The UMB HRPP is one of 107 research organizations that have earned this distinguished accreditation status.  The current UMB AAHRPP accreditation expires December 2008.  The re-accreditation application has been submitted and an on-site evaluation is scheduled for June 23, 24, & 25, 2008.  The site visit will include interviews with Investigators and research personnel as well as IRB members and representatives from key UMB organizational entities.   Watch for related updates and education programs.

 

 


HRPO Quality and Effectiveness Survey
