Joseph Lloyd, BS
Crash Investigator
For the past 10 years Mr. Lloyd has been conducting crash investigations in the state of Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic region for various transportation research projects. He was originally trained in motor vehicle crash reconstruction by the United States Department of Transportation, Transportation Safety Institute in 1995. From 1995 onward, he has participated in several major research projects associated with motor vehicle safety, the most notable being:
The National Automotive Sampling System (NASS): A national program with a focus on motor vehicle safety trends and vehicle crashworthiness.
The Crash Injury Research and Engineering Network (CIREN): A network of eight trauma centers focusing on mechanism of injury and outcomes for occupants involved in moderate to severe motor vehicle crashes.
The Partners for Child Passenger Safety: A collaborative research program which focuses on injuries to children and infants involved in motor vehicle crashes.
During this time, he was also fortunate enough to have participated in two passenger train crash investigations as well as performing crash investigations for a large automobile manufacturer.
Currently, Joe works as a crash investigator with the University of Maryland, National Study Center for Trauma & EMS where the majority of his time is dedicated to the CIREN project.
