Cynthia Burch, MPH

Epidemiologist

Cynthia BurchCindy’s research interests include motor vehicle trauma and injury epidemiology.  At the Study Center, she works on the Crash Outcome Data Evaluation System (CODES) and the Crash Injury Research and Engineering Network (CIREN) projects funded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).  She also works closely with the Maryland Highway Safety Office on data analyses and traffic records and answers data requests from state and local agencies as well as the public at large.

Cindy earned her Master of Public Health degree in epidemiology at the Medical College of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University (2000).  She also holds a BS in Biology from Emory University (1999).

Cindy was a research analyst at the Study Center from 2001-2004 and went on to serve as epidemiologist for the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety.  There she continued working with traffic records and statewide data projects, including Georgia CODES.  In late 2005 she returned to the Study Center to serve as epidemiologist.  She’s happy to be back on this research team and working with local, state and federal partners.
