Membership Criteria & Application Process

Categories: Full, Associate or Affiliate

MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION FORM 

Full Membership

1. MD, PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in a health related field
2. Full-time faculty appointment at one of University System of Maryland's universities, research institutions, or regional higher education centers 
3. Demonstrated record of scientific scholarship and achievement in the field of health disparities research
4. At least three years experience in health disparities education.  Education is defined as academic training programs for health professional students or graduate students

Associate Membership

1. MD, PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree in a health related field/ Masters level prepared in rigorous health disparities research discipline will be reviewed on case by case basis
2. Full-time or adjunct faculty appointment at one of University System of Maryland's universities, research institutions, or regional higher education centers or similar institution
3. Demonstrated record of scientific scholarship and achievement experience in the field of health disparity research
4. At least three years experience in health disparities education.  Education is defined as academic training programs for health professional students or advanced degree graduate students

Affiliate Membership

1. MD, PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree in a health-related field/Masters level preparation in a health disparities research discipline will be reviewed on a case by case basis
2. Full-time or adjunct faculty appointment at one of University System of Maryland's Universities, Historically Black Colleges or Universities in Maryland, research institutions or regional higher education centers or similar institutions
3. Evidence in form of letter from a collaborator or mentor which substantiates the applicant's scientific scholarship and achievement experience in the field of health disparities research or minority health research or education
4. Membership term is one-year, renewable annually after review of progress of scientific scholarship achievement in research and/or education

Membership Process

1. Complete the application form 
2. Provide two relevant, related publications and curriculum vitae with completed application
3. Email application and attachments. 
4. Affiliate Membership applicants: in addition, please attach a letter from a collaborator or mentor.
