Research Ethics Training, EMRO/Cairo, 11 August 2008

 

WHO/EMRO, in collaboration with the Middle East Research Training Initiative (MERETI www.mereti.net), and with the contribution of the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI www.citiprogram.org) and the Public Responsibility in Medicine and Research (PRIM&R www.primr.org), have the pleasure to announce that a one-day workshop is being organized for individuals serving on research ethics committees. 

 

The Workshop will cover the ethics issues related to the conduct and review of health research involving human subjects. Through a series of lectures, case studies, and interactive discussions, attendees will learn:

·    The ethical requirements of research

·    How to conduct ethical review of protocols

·    What research protocols may be exempt from oversight from an research ethics committee

·    How to establish a research ethics committee

·    What constitutes aspects of informed consent

 

Attendees will perform group work involving the review of protocols and informed consent documents.  If you are interested to attend, you are kindly requested to register by sending an E-mail to rpc@emro.who.int with your full name and contact details.  Deadline for registration is Monday, 4 August 2008
