Infectious Diseases Open Faculty Positions

The University of Maryland’s Division of Infectious Disease and the Institute of Human Virology's Division of Clinical Care and Clinical Research is seeking non-tenure track, full-time Instructor/Assistant Professor faculty members in the School of Medicine’s Department of Medicine. Faculty appointments commensurate with experience. Candidates must demonstrate a strong interest and experience in the clinical management of HIV infection and associated diseases and complications. Applicants must be board-certified in internal medicine; preferably board eligible or board certified in infectious diseases. Qualified candidate will be based in Africa and will fully participate in PEPFAR (President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief) program to bring antiretroviral therapy assessment, treatment, training and monitoring to resource poor countries. Positions will be responsible for establishing efficient and high quality HIV related medical care at partner facilities and foster site specific capacity building efforts in clinical care, care delivery, and health care management issues related to HIV care.
INFECTIOUS DISEASES/HIV (Position # 3-309-508;510): The Infectious Diseases Division at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is seeking two full-time non-tenure track faculty members at the Instructor/Assistant/Associate Professor rank in the Department of Medicine. Appointments commensurate to experience.
Candidates must demonstrate a strong interest and experience in the clinical management of immune-compromised hosts, including transplantation, general infectious diseases and HIV medicine. Opportunity for additional involvement within division’s international program, if interested. Applicants must be board-certified in internal medicine; board eligible or board certified in infectious diseases.
Responsibilities will include providing comprehensive clinical care in both inpatient and outpatient settings to patients with infectious diseases, including HIV infections, and particularly immune compromised host, as well as educational activities directed at fellows and residents. Major interests of Clinical Research Division include chronic viral pathogenesis, viral immunoregulation, and the development and clinical evaluation of immunological, gene therapeutic and novel biological approaches to therapy of chronic human viral pathogens.
