The Division of Cardiology is internationally known for its work in the diagnosis and management of complex heart disease.

Our physicians and students believe strongly in the prevention of disease and are active in efforts that emphasize risk-factor modification. This includes participating in community outreach activities such as Mini-Med school, health fairs and blood-pressure screenings, to educate people about risk factors and the steps they can take to keep their hearts healthy.

Physician-Scientists (Position numbers 3-309-563):

The Cardiology Division in the Department of Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is recruiting a physician-scientist for a tenure track faculty appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Professor level. The successful candidate will be an accomplished investigator in translational or basic science who focuses on laboratory based research in the areas of heart failure, genomics, vascular biology, or regenerative medicine. The candidate will be expected to contribute to the research, teaching and clinical missions of the University and will have a proven record of research excellence, productivity and funding. Ample time will be protected for research, and the position comes with attractive packages to foster the development and growth of a robust research program.


Director, Advances Cardiac Care Program (Position number 3-309-590):

The Division of Cardiology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and the University of Maryland Medical Center is currently recruiting for a Director of its Advanced Cardiac Care Program.  The successful candidate will report directly to the Head of Cardiology and the Co-directors of the University of Maryland Comprehensive Heart Center. The candidate will have direct operational responsibility and accountability for signature programs in Advanced Heart Failure, Transplant Medicine, Right Heart Failure and Pulmonary Vascular Disease and Refractory Coronary Vascular Diseases.  In this role, the director will be the spokesperson for this signature program and would oversee all aspects of these programs, supervise the individual program leaders and have authority over program resources.  This leader will be charged with the development and deployment of a robust regional outreach program in Advanced Cardiac Diseases, oversee the “best practices” of the clinical enterprise, develop a robust translational research program and serve as program director of the subspecialty training program in advanced cardiac failure and transplantation medicine within the division of cardiology. A competitive salary structure, resources for hiring two clinical and one-two research faculty in addition to overseeing the current faculty complement this highly visible position within the institution. Professional Characteristics: The ideal candidate will be a senior associate or full professor with excellent teaching and clinical skills.  A five year successful track record in leading at least one core discipline of the overarching Advanced Cardiac Disease Program theme is required as is board certification in cardiology.  

General Cardiologist/Vavular Heart Disease (Position number 3-309-629):

The Cardiology Division at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and Medical Center is seeking a clinical cardiologist with specific interest in valvular heart disease and special competence in non-invasive imaging to participate in our Structural Heart Disease Program.  The successful candidate must have exceptional skills in trans-thoracic and transesophageal echocardiography including 3D imaging and quantitative analysis of valvular disease. Experience with echo guidance of percutaneous aortic and mitral valve interventions is preferable, as is integration of echocardiography with cardiac CT/MR. The successful candidate is expected to participate in the multi-disciplinary care of patients with advanced valvular disease as well as routine echocardiogram interpretation, consultative cardiology, and in-patient cardiac care.  Academic rank, tenure status and benefits commensurate with experience.  
 

Cardiac Interventionalist (Position number 3-309-661):

The Cardiology Division at the University of Maryland School of Medicine seeks applicants for a faculty position in Interventional Cardiology.  The ideal candidate will have training and experience in advanced non-coronary interventions including percutaneous valve therapy.  A strong research background is desirable as is the ability to work in a collaborative multidisciplinary program including cardiac imaging and surgery.  He/she will also take part in teaching medical students, residents, and cardiology fellows in addition to full time clinical activities on and off campus. Eligibility or certification in Interventional Cardiology and eligibility for licensure in Maryland are required as is excellence in teaching and clinical skills. Salary and academic rank commensurate with experience and qualifications.
