Wraparound Principles
Because of past incongruence regarding Wraparound, in June 2003 a group of national experts came together through the National Wraparound Initiative to articulate and clarify the core element necessary for successful outcomes-based implementation. The Wraparound Initiative articulated 10 principles of Wraparound and defined the necessary steps to ensure high fidelity and improved outcomes.
By utilizing all of the principles below, the Wraparound team develops a plan that is uniquely tailored to the family. The process becomes a tool for the building of constructive relationships. The child or youth is not forced to fit into the standard service plan but rather the necessary services and support are wrapped around the child and family’s needs and desires: “Individualization necessarily results as team members collaboratively craft a plan that capitalizes on their collective strengths, creativity and knowledge of possible strategies and available resources.” (Bruns, 2005).The Application of the Ten Principles of the Wraparound Process to the Role of Family Partners on Wraparound Teams
