RESEARCH INTERESTS

Dr. Roghmann is an infectious disease physician and epidemiologist studying emerging pathogens and healthcare acquired infections. She received her MD from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and her M.S. from the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine at the University of Maryland. Dr. Roghmann is now Head of Division of Health Care Outcomes Research and an Associate Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine. For the past seven years, she has been the Hospital Epidemiologist for the VA Maryland Health Care System.

Dr. Roghmann studies the epidemiology of antimicrobial resistant pathogens particularly methicillin resistance S. aureus. Her research focuses on understanding the transmission of MRSA and the impact of MRSA infections on patients and the healthcare system. She has published over 30 papers and book chapters and mentored more than 20 faculty members, graduate students, fellows, residents and medical students. She has funding from the Veterans Health Administration Research and Development (VA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to study antibiotic resistance in the health care setting. Finally, she teaches clinical research skills as Education Director for the University of Maryland's General Clinical Research Center and on the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine's Clinical Research Curriculum Award (K30) grant.
