Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is building upon the unprecedented opportunities of the 21st century to improve equity in global health and learning. The foundation was created in January 2000, through the merger of the Gates Learning Foundation, which worked to expand access to technology through public libraries, and the William H. Gates Foundation, which focused on improving global health. Led by Bill Gates' father, William H. Gates Sr., and Patty Stonesifer, the Seattle-based foundation has an endowment of approximately $27 billion.

The Council of International Programs USA is a non-profit international exchange program that brings well-qualified professionals to the United States for practical training programs. It allows exchange visitors to meet their professional counterparts, take part in cultural activities, and to uncover insights into American life and society.

The Directory of Development Organizations 2004 has been prepared to facilitate international cooperation and knowledge sharing in development work, both among NGOs, research institutions, governments and private sector organizations. The Directory is a compilation of contact data of the main sources of assistance available for private sector development and poverty reduction.

Ford Foundation is one of the largest U.S. foundations active in national and international health. It offers an International Fellowship Program for foreign fellows needing support.

Global Fund for Women provides flexible, timely grants to women's groups around the world striving to improve women's human rights.

Howard Hughes Medical Institute  HHMI, a non-profit medical research organization that ranks as one of the nation's largest philanthropies, plays a powerful role in advancing biomedical research and science education in the U.S. In the past two decades HHMI has made investments of more than $8.3 billion for the support, training, and education of the nation's most creative and promising scientists. The Institute commits almost $700 million a year for research and distributes more than $80 million in grant support for science education.

The International Family Planning Leadership Program (IFPLP)
The Public Health Institute (PHI), a non-profit organization with extensive experience in supporting family planning and population programs will implement this program through the International Health Programs unit in Santa Cruz, California. The goal of The International Family Planning Leadership Program (IFPLP) is to build an influential cadre of FP leaders. The program aims to improve effectiveness of family planning leaders and provide them with skills and knowledge that will sustain them as they rise to higher levels of responsibility in their countries.

Robert Wood Johnson Foundation is one of the largest U.S. foundations specifically oriented towards health issues. Though the RWJF does not fund international projects, it may be useful in funding or reporting on projects relevant to IH.

Rockefeller Foundation provides information about the Foundation, its programs (many of which are overseas), grant recipients and amounts awarded, and sites where research is being done.

Wellcome Trust supports many different kinds of research and activities with the ultimate aim of protecting and improving human and animal health. This support is not restricted to UK researchers - we devote significant funding to international research too.

The ForeignAID.com International Donor Directory Online has recently been updated to include over 700 grantmakers in the U.S. and abroad making over $1 Billion in grants for international programs every year. It is used by nonprofits, students, and universities in the U.S., Canada, Europe and abroad to identify corporations, foundations, and other grantmakers that are committed to funding international programs.

Partners in Population and Development
An innovative visionary leadership development program in four focus countries – India in Asia; and Ethiopia, Sudan and Nigeria in Africa. The VLP will contribute towards improving the quality of life of people through improved reproductive health services and reduced fertility and rapid population growth in the focus countries by strengthening the capabilities of and supporting family planning and reproductive health leaders.
