Residency: Applications

Application Process

Applications to the General Surgery Residency Program at University of Maryland Medical Center are processed through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). Please contact the Dean's Office of your medical school for further information.

The firm deadline for this program to receive your application material - with the exception of the Dean's letter - is Friday, October 31, 2008.

The following materials must be submitted through ERAS:

  1. ERAS application
  2. Curriculum Vitae (ERAS format is acceptable)
  3. Personal Statement
  4. Dean's letter
  5. Three letters of recommendation
  6. Medical school transcript
  7. USLME Step 1 and Step 2 scores
  8. Photograph
  9. Your e-mail address

If you are an international graduate, please note that a valid Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) (www.ecfmg.org) certificate, including successful completion of USMLE Step 2 as well as eligibility for a J-1 visa, is required.

We do not sponsor H-1 visas.

Once your application materials have been reviewed, you will receive an e-mail from the residency program coordinator Jeneen Bishop informing you if an interview has been granted.
