I completed my residency and chief residency at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia and then went on to complete a Robert Wood Johnson fellowship in general academic pediatrics at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Following fellowship I joined the faculty at Univesity of Maryland where I have remained ever since. During my tenure I was Director of the residency training program for twenty years. In 1999 I went back to night school to complete my master's degree in education from Loyola College. I curretly serve as the Associate Chair for Education. My scholarship has been focused on development of web-based portfolio assessemnt of the ACGME competencies. I am currently a member of the small working group that is developing the ACGME Learning Portfolio.
On a national level, I am completing my term as Chair of the RRC for Pediatrics and am activley involved in a number of committees for the American Board of Pediatrics including: the Program Director's Committee, Finance Committee, Residency Review and Redesign Project Committee and the Board of Directors.
