Personal History

Clayton Brown, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology, University of Maryland School of Medicine. Dr. Brown is also the Director of the Biostatistics Core for the V.A. Capitol Healthcare Network Mental Illness, Research, Education and Clinical Center. Dr. Brown received his Ph.D. in biostatistics from the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health in 2001, where his training was supported by a pre-doctoral training grant from the National Institute of Mental Health.

Research Interests

Dr. Brown's applied area of interest is psychiatry, especially health services and clinical research for schizophrenia and other seriously mentally ill patients. His other area of interest is statistical methods, particularly those that have applications to psychiatric research. Dr. Brown is also the course master for the entry-level Introduction to Biostatistics course taught in the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine, which serves all medical and health-related departments and schools at the University of Maryland, Baltimore campus.
