Personal HistoryDr. Weiner is the Chairman of Neurology and the Director of the Maryland Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders Center at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He has been involved in treatment trials for Parkinson's disease since levodopa. Research InterestsDr Weiner's major interest continues to be in experimental therapeutics and clinical phenomenoogy of Parkinson's disease. He has published 23 books in Neurology, most of which relate to movement disorders. His most recent books include, "Parkinson's Disease: A Complete Guide for Patients and Families", which has been widely acclaimed by the patient community, and a scholarly text, "Parkinson's Disease: Diagnosis and Management", which is about to appear in its second edition. He helped to lead the American Academy of Neurology author group that wrote the new Practice Parameters for Parkinson's disease. He has published over 200 peer-reviewed articles. His clinical expertise includes Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, dystonia, tremor, Tourette's syndrome, tardive dyskinesia, myoclonus and atypical parkinsonism.
