Personal History:

Dr. Mann received his undergraduate degree from Goshen College and his Medical Degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine. After completing his residency in Internal Medicine at St Louis University Hospitals, he was awarded a fellowship at the National Cancer Institute, NIH. He subsequently became a Senior Investigator and Section Head at the NCI. During his tenure at this institution he authored/co-authored over 220 peer reviewed publications and numerous book chapters and reviews. In 1996, he accepted a position as Professor of Pathology and Head of the Division of Immunogenetics. He also serves as Director of the Cancer Center's Flow Cytometry shared resource facility.

Research Interests:

Dr. Mann's research interests focus on Human Immunology, with an emphasis on the genetic control of the immune response as related to disease pathogenesis and treatment. Current projects include an investigation of recombinant plant virus constructs as vehicles for delivery of vaccines, translation of cellular immunotherapies for cancer, the role of HLA class II alleles in the pathogenesis of autoimmune disease and immune reconstitution post total-body radiation in a non-human primate model.
