Personal History

During his tenure at University of Maryland School of Medicine, Dr. Alon has developed expertise in the area of limb amputation management, therapeutic technologies, pathological movements management, and neuro-rehabilitation.  Dr. Alon continues to provide academic training to physical therapy students in electro-testing and electrotherapy, management of limb amputation, and pathological movement analyses and management. Similarly, he has been providing continuing education training to physicians and therapists on the topic of electrotherapy and pathological movement analyses and management throughout the USA, Canada, Europe, Middle East, and Australia.

Research Interests

Dr. Alon's research in the last 10 years focuses on establishing Neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) and functional electrical stimulation (FES) training to maximize the recovery of upper limb function and locomotor independence in the acute and chronic post stroke rehabilitation period.  In addition he has been mentoring PhD and DScPT students.
