Research InterestsDr. King directs the Division of Pediatrics, University of Maryland School of Maryland. His research focus for the last several years has been respiratory infection in children and pediatric vaccines. He studies respiratory infection in children of HIV and non-HIV infected mothers. He has conducted a study which contrasts clinical, epidemiological and immunological factors in birth cohorts of children born to HIV and non-HIV infected mothers. In the field of pediatric vaccines, he has been involved in Phase 2 evaluations of combination vaccines (Hib-DTP), live attenuated influenza vaccines, rotavirus and conjugated pneumococcal vaccine. He plans to compare the effectiveness of these vaccines in HIV and non-HIV infected children. Faculty members:
