I am a board-certified genetic counselor and faculty member in the Department of Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UM-SOM). My current position involves research, teaching, clinical and laboratory genetic counseling responsibilities. In the latter I work closely with Dr. Linda Jeng, Director of the Translational Genomics Laboratory, and have played a major role in genetic variant interpretation on a number of clinical implementation research projects. I am involved in the Personalized Diabetes Medicine Program (PI: Toni Pollin) and have assisted on study design, developed informed consent documents, generated patient and provider information about the study, and provided pre- and post-test genetic counseling to individuals with suspected and confirmed monogenic diabetes. I have significant experience with human subjects research projects aimed at implementing personalized medicine as a member of the UM-SOM Program for Personalized & Genomic Medicine (PPGM). Additionally, I review all student research proposals and IRB applications as Coursemaster of the Research Methodology for Genetic Counselors class in the Master’s in Genetic Counseling Program at the UM-SOM.  I also coordinate hands-on pharmacogenomics educational activities in the UM-SOM and UM School of Pharmacy. I have incorporated the lessons from PDMP and PPGM into my own clinical practice as an adult genetic counselor at the University of Maryland Center for Genetics & Personalized Medicine.  I am also part of the new Pharmacogenomics Service in the hospital.
