Before joining the University of Maryland School of Medicine faculty in 2012, Dr. Hong-Zohlman completed an advanced fellowship in cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging under the mentorship of Dr. Warren Manning at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston and then stayed on as faculty at that institution while she completed a Master of Science in Epidemiology at the Harvard School of Public Health. She is trained in all cardiovascular noninvasive imaging modalities, including echocardiography (level 3), cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (level 3), nuclear cardiology (level 2), and computed cardiac tomography (level 2). She is also board certified in medicine, cardiovascular medicine, echocardiography, and nuclear medicine.

Research Interests:

Dr. Hong-Zohlman’s major research interests are in advanced noninvasive imaging of cardiovascular diseases such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, pericarditis, and myocarditis. She is also interested in the use of multimodality imaging to identify sex differences in cardiovascular disease. She works closely with Drs. Jean Jeudy, Seth Kligerman, and Charles White in Thoracic Radiology with regard to cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging and cardiac computed tomography, both within research and clinical care.

Clinical Speciality:

  • Cardiovascular Imaging (cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging, echocardiography, cardiac computed tomography, nuclear cardiology)
  • Pericardial Disease
  • Myocarditis
  • Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy
  • Cardiovascular Disease in Women
