Dr. Nowak is an infectious disease epidemiologist with nearly ten years of experience in laboratory sciences. She received her Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and her M.P.H. from the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University. Dr. Nowak is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Cancer Epidemiology and a member of the Institute of Human Virology and the Population Science Program at the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Cancer Center.
Dr. Nowak's research interests are focused on understanding the molecular pathogenesis of cancers particularly in the context of HIV infection. More specifically, she is focused on human papillomavirus (HPV) and the relationship between altered local immunity and the transition to neoplasia during HIV infection.
