Personal History:

Dr Christou received her ScB in Biophysics from Brown University in 1992, her MS in Physics from East Carolina University in 1997 and her PhD in Biomedical Physics in 2014. She went on to complete her Therapy Medical Physics residency at the University of Michigan Radiation Oncology Department in 2007. Following that, she worked for a year as a Medical Physicist at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center prior to joining the Varian Medical Systems Ltd Physics helpdesk EMEA team in 2009. Dr Christou joined the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 2011 where she is currently working as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Radiation Oncology.

Research Interests:

Dr. Christou’s research interests include treatment planning systems, radiation measurements and beam data for algorithm implementation, portal dosimetry, QA and QA metrics, adaptive and novel treatment planning techniques, proton radiotherapy, and new technology implementation.
