Dr. Eng, is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Human Virology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and an Affiliate at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. She specializes in qualitative and quantitative methods in behavioral epidemiology. Her education and professional experiences are in both pharmacy services and public health.

Currently, Dr. Eng is a technical advisor to the PEPFAR program in Nigeria, part of the US government's care and treatment efforts to combat HIV/AIDS worldwide. In this capacity, she leads the implementation and evaluation of adherence counseling and pharmacy services, as well as the design and testing of training curriculum and materials for patient education.

Dr. Eng is the co-principal investigator of an Operations Research on AIDS Care and Treatment in Africa (ORACTA) Award from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation. Her project investigates the impact and sustainability of peer educators on different adherence strategies in Nigeria. She is also the Technical Consultant on another ORACTA award utilizing mobile pharmacy vans for HIV/AIDS medication provision in Uganda.

Other research interests include substance abuse, treatment stigma and the role of women receiving HIV care and treatment, particularly within a Muslim population.

Dr. Eng was a practicing clinical pharmacist at the Johns Hopkins Hospital for 10 years prior to her public health career. She received her Dr.P.H. degree in International Health and her M.P.H. degree from the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health, and her B.S. degree in Pharmacy from Rutgers University.
