Mary Patricia Ball is the Senior Research Nurse in the Outpatient Research Program and serves as Study Manager for all the clinical trials conducted in the ORP. She completed her undergraduate work at Mount Saint Agnes College and earned her MS in Psychology from Loyola College. She completed the nursing program at Essex Community College and has been certified as a Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse by the American Nurses Association since 1996.

Research Interests

She has been Principal Investigator on two studies in the past which investigated the use of support groups for weight loss in patients taking new-generation antipsychotic medications. Currently, she is PI on three studies: one investigating the effect of different antipsychotics on dietary choices, one investigating the effect of different antipsychotics on response to a variety of foods, and one double-blind study of Atomoxetine combined with a support group and exercise for the treatment of Olanzapine-related weight gain.
