The mission of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Nutrition at the University of Maryland is to provide excellence in clinical care of patients with diabetes and other endocrine disorders, to find cures and new treatments for these diseases through cutting edge research, and to educate and train present and future health care providers and medical researchers.

The Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Nutrition is led by Stephen N. Davis, MBBS, Chair of the Department of Medicine, and currently serving as Interim Division Chief. Braxton Mitchell, Jr., PhD, MPH, Professor of Medicine; Kashif Munir, MD, Associate Professor of Medicine, and Kristi Silver, MD, Associate Professor of Medicine, each hold the title of Vice Division Chief. Dr. Mitchell leads the research and related activities in the Division, Dr. Munir directs and manages all clinical operations within the Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology (CDE), and Dr. Silver handles all aspects of clinical research in the CDE. The Division is one of the largest Divisions of Endocrinology in the country with 34 full-time faculty. It provides a highly stimulating, academic and nurturing research environment, and has extensive collaborations with other research groups on campus and around the world.

We also provide a comprehensive & fellowship program providing both clinical exposure to all major endocrinopathies and training in clinical and basic research.
