MEDT 475/476 – Biotechnology Externship

This course provides exposure to practical experience for the biotechnology tract students acquired through a 19-week externship at an industry-based biotechnology company. Through professional training, the student will utilize the expertise gained through previous didactic coursework, applying various technologies and good laboratory practices. This experience provides the student with exposure to the daily operations of the industry as well as the opportunity to learn while they work on research projects. Working with a multidisciplinary team of scientists, students will have the opportunity to gain hands-on research, practical laboratory and business experience, and develop entry-level skills, which will enable them to join the biotechnology field. The biotechnology site will serve as a preceptor to train, guide, and evaluate the student.
