University of Maryland School of Medicine Receives Five-Year Federal Grant to Increase the Number of Students Going Into Primary Care

With primary care expected to play a key role in national health care reform, the University of Maryland School of Medicine will be using a five-year, $877,000 grant from the federal Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to develop a program aimed at increasing the number of medical students who choose primary care specialties.

More Than 200 Guests Turned Out for the University of Maryland School of Medicine's Fifth Annual "Celebrating Diversity" Dinner

The University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM ) held its fifth annual Celebrating Diversity reception and dinner on Saturday, February 4, 2012. The event was attended by over 200 guests, who gathered to honor the strides made in diversity at the School of Medicine and to raise money for the Dean Emeritus Donald E. Wilson Endowed Scholarship fund and other UMSOM diversity scholarships that provide financial assistance to minority students.
