CTSI: VA Million Veterans Project (MVP)
The goal of MVP is to partner with veterans receiving their care in the VA Healthcare to build one of the world's largest medical databases by collecting blood samples and health information from one million Veteran volunteers across the full spectrum of health and disease. Volunteers are being recruited at 40 VA sites (including the Baltimore VAMC; Local site PI: Alan Shuldiner, MD). To date, more than 100,000 veterans have been recruited. Samples (DNA, plasma, serum) will be linked to the extensive VA EHR (CPRS). While access to samples will be coordinated centrally by the department of Veterans Affairs Office of Research & Development, the TGI Service will help to facilitate UM CTSI investigators to access MVP datasets and samples.
