Special Activities
The Facility participated in the 2006 International Brain Bee, providing demonstrations to four groups of high school students.
The Facility for Confocal Microscopy hosted two high school students in the "Young Scientist for a Day" program sponsored by the University of Maryland Graduate School on April 27, 1995.
The Facility provided a demonstration to a delegation of Russian Scientists on May 17, 1995.
The Facility presented an overview of confocal microscopy to 29 students from Northeastern High School, Prince Georges County, MD on December 15, 1995.
Representatives from Universal Imaging conducted a two-day course on the MetaMorph Image Processing System on January 17-18, 1996.
As part of the Special Laboratory program in the medical neuroscience course, six medical students learn about applications of confocal microscopy in the neurosciences by participating in four sessions held each Spring since 1996.
Graduate Students in the Imaging Methods in Biology course received a theoretical and practical summary of confocal microscopy at the Facility in 1996, 1998 and 2000.
Members of the American Heart Association's Washington County board of directors received a tour of the Facility for Confocal Microscopy on May 16, 1996.
