Summary of Current Work: Research interests primarily center on the application of established schizophrenia endophenotypes in the genetic dissection of schizophrenia. Endophenotypes are found in schizophrenia individuals and their unaffected relatives, and likely represent specific neurobiological processes that are more relevant than symptoms in the pathophysiology of this complex disorder. Data generated from this line of work could help us better characterize the neurobiology of aberrant genes and explore their causal paths with high translational potential for testing in animal models. Other scholarly interests include antipsychotic-induced adverse events, pharmacologic probe studies, and pharmacogenomics. K12 Award creates an opportunity for multidisciplinary mentorship in molecular techniques, epidemiology and bioinformatics, and schizophrenia research.
