Support Mechanism

The MCRCDP will provide 75% salary support for junior faculty as well as associated fringe benefits. The total salary must be based on a 12-month faculty appointment and the level of effort related to the MCRCDP activities. In all cases, salary requested must be consistent with the level of effort;
  • It is required that Scholars will become faculty members at the assistant professor level in their respective Schools after acceptance into the MCRCDP;
  • The MCRCDP will provide support for tuition,fees aand books related to multidisciplinary clinical research training;
  • The MCRCDP will provide support for scholars to travel to the annual NIH K12 meeting for Scholars and to one additional training or scientific meeting per year;
  • The MCRCDP will provide up to $25,000 per year starting in the trainees' first year (upon MAC approval of the Scholar's proposed research project) that will be used to provide support for a project designed by the scholar. This money can be used for:
    • Research expenses, such as supplies, equipment, and personnel;
    • Statistical and data management services; and
    • Other project infrastructure including relevant data sets.
  • The MCRCDP will provide a total of $10,000 per year to at least two primary mentors per scholar (if additional mentors are involved, the $10,000 can be divided to support other mentors if desired); additional support for Mentors may vary by school 
  • The MCRCDP will also provide consultative and infrastructure support through its central Core

NOTE: Scholars are forbidden to retain any compensation or fees for activities related to the research and training. Fees resulting from such activities must be assigned to the grantee institution for disposition.
