Research Projects

Each Scholar participates in two types of mentored research experiences, both of which are largely focused on a single disease or health problem, for up to 4 years (minimum of 1 year).

  • In the first type of experience, the Scholar participates in an ongoing clinical research project and becomes an active team member, working alongside his/her mentors or team leader.
  • In the second type of practicum, the Scholar initiates, designs, and implements a new research project under the guidance of the mentoring team. The proposal is reviewed by   Multidisciplinary Advisory Commitee (MAC) members and additional faculty with expertise in the area of research and feedback is given to the Scholar. We make extensive use of the General Clinical Research Center (GCRC) to assist the Scholars in developing their proposals.
