RNA Synthesis

The Biopolymer/Genomics Facility has extensive experience with synthesis of RNA molecules. More recently, there has been a great demand for siRNA synthesis. Like other specialty oligonucleotides, our facility can synthesize high quality siRNAs more cost-effectively than commercial sources. Desalting by reversed phase HPLC is provided at no cost for this service. Currently, the smallest scale for RNA synthesis is 0.2μMole. The cost for synthesis of siRNA molecules is per base per strand, NOT for a double stranded pair.

Current Synthesis Charges (Cost per Base) and Average Expected Yields (for 20-25mers):

Scale Cost per Base Average Yield
0.2μMole RNA/siRNA $5.00/base 300-600μg
1.0μMole RNA/siRNA $10.00/base 1.0-2.0mg
