Salary, Benefits and Resident Well-Being

Resident salaries and benefits, including the contract, are fully described on the GME website. Professional liability, health, life and disability insurance; uniforms; parking and laundry are provided.  Residents are financially supported and encouraged to attend and present at local and national meetings. Living accommodations are the responsibility of the resident. Comfortable, affordable residences are within walking distance of the hospital or there is a short drive to the suburbs. The program is committed to resident well-being and monitors the signs of fatigue. Department members and residents are required to complete an education program to recognize the signs of fatigue; duty hours are strictly enforced. Residents and faculty are mutually responsible for quality improvement and the maintenance of an environment that is conducive to learning and high-quality patient care.
