This past March, Wendy Nguyen, MD (2015 resident graduate) and Erik Smith, MD (current CA-3 resident) participated in Resident Legislative Day, hosted by the Maryland Society of Anesthesiologists. Congratulations to Dr. Megan Anders. On May 15, 2015, Dr. Anders received a Master of Science in Clinical Research Alumni Fund Award from the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health. The merit award will support resources for her thesis research projects on clinical outcomes in trauma patients.

Congratulations to Dr. Megan Anders. On May 15, 2015, Dr. Anders received a Master of Science in Clinical Research Alumni Fund Award from the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health. The merit award will support resources for her thesis research projects on clinical outcomes in trauma patients.

The scientific discoveries of Alan Faden, MD, David Loane, PhD and Junfang Wu, BM, PhD are featured in the Spring 2015 edition of the University of Maryland Medicine Bulletin. Marta M. Lipinski, Ph.D. awarded a 5-year, $1,678,905 R01 grant.  

Andrew M. Malinow MD recently participated in the 1st International Symposium of PROMPT held in Bath, U.K.  

Kenichi Tanaka, MD, Professor, Director of Cardiac Anesthesiology, has been invited to join the Editorial Board of the Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia (JCVA).

Wendy K. Bernstein, MD, MBA, Seema P. Deshpande, MBBS , and Patrick N. Odonkor, MB, ChB, have been selected by The American Board of Anesthesiology to serve as examiners for the American Board of Anesthesiology's Part 2 Examination.

Congratulations to Ron E. Samet, MD, Director, Program in Acute Pain and Regional Anesthesia and his team of University of Maryland bioengineering students (Shawn Greenspan and Stefanie Cohen) on winning First Place ($2000) and the Audience Choice Award ($500) in the Pitch Dingman Competition at the Robert H. Smith School of Business Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship on Novermber 20, 2014. Their product, the Sono-assist Monitor, was invented and designed by Dr. Samet and engineered by the students to continuously monitor blood flow in low perfusion and cardiac arrest states.
