Brain Attack!
Stroke is a "Brain Attack"
Stroke happens in the brain rather than the heart.
Stroke is an emergency!
A stroke is a serious medical emergency, caused by lack of oxygen to the brain, a "brain attack". A stroke has the same effect on your brain as a heart attack does on your heart.
A stroke or "brain attack" occurs when a blood clot blocks a blood vessel or when a blood vessel breaks, obstructing blood flow to an area of the brain. When a stroke occurs, part of the brain doesn't receive the flow of blood it needs and starts to die.
Everyone is affected by a stroke differently. Some people may experience only a small stroke, such as weakness in an arm or leg. Other people may experience paralysis on one side, while others may lose their life to a very severe stroke. The effect of a stroke is determined by the location in the brain where the stroke occurred.
