The way you live may change your chances of having a stroke. Some things, called risk factors, increase the chance of having a stroke. There are three types of risk factors:
things that can't be changed
things that can be changed by medical treatment
things that can be changed by changing lifestyle habits
Risk Factors that you can change:
- High blood pressure
- Tobacco use
- High cholesterol
- Diabetes
- Being overweight
- Not enough exercise
- Drinking too much alcohol
