Telemedicine Projects

The University of Maryland School of Medicine Telemedicine Programming improves the health status of Marylanders through the development and implementation of telemedicine and videoconferencing technology which links the University of Maryland School of Medicine with the rest of the state, with an emphasis on rural and underserved areas.

The Telemedicine initiatives accomplish this mission by:

  1. Developing and maintaining a statewide network and promote the implementation of telemedicine healthcare resources for patients and providers in Maryland;

  2. Sponsoring collaborative telemedicine initiatives that foster Provider-to-Provider services, Provider-to-Patient services, and Home Health services;

  3. Facilitating distance learning opportunities for health care professionals, students and communities that relate to health topics impacting Marylanders;

  4. Assessing the appropriateness of various telecommunication
