Advanced Ambulatory Clinical Clerkship
in Musculoskeletal Medicine
Course Description:
This month-long experience is designed for medical students interested in General Internal Medicine, Rheumatology, Rehabilitative Medicine, or Orthopaedics.
The experience provides one-on-one and small group teaching for students with faculty members within the outpatient setting.
Students will have the opportunity to work with faculty members of the Johns Hopkins University at the Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center, the Bayview Medical Center, Good Samaritan Hospital, and Johns Hopkins at Green Spring Station.
Students will be involved in the evaluation of patients presenting in the outpatient setting for evaluation of musculoskeletal complaints.
Students will be taught how to perform an appropriate history and physical examination of the musculoskeletal system as well as the determination of appropriate diagnostic evaluation and management.
Participation in musculoskeletal medicine conferences as well as individualized musculoskeletal rounds will be expected.
Students will develop a learning portfolio maintaining patient logs as well as demonstrate competency in musculoskeletal examination.

4 weeks
Prerequisites:
Satisfactory completion of Medicine B-second year or equivalent courses.
