4 WEEKS
-
To understand standard airway equipment, techniques and management.
-
To participate in preoperative assessment of patients for anesthesia including history, physical, risk assessment.
-
To learn basic clinical monitoring modalities and interpretation.
-
To apply basic pharmacology principles during pre-, intra- and post-operative care.
-
To apply basic respiratory physiology principles in the care of surgical patients.
8 WEEKS (in addition to above)
-
To experience the anesthesia subspecialties (for example, chronic pain and cardiovascular anesthesia).

To participate in and understand the application of specialized intraoperative monitoring (e.g. PA catheters, evoked potentials, transesophageal echocardiography, electroencephalography).

To practice airway skills, including laryngoscopy and fiberoptic bronchoscopy.
