National Study Center for Trauma & EMS (NSC)
The Data Services track utilizes the NSC’s expertise in the areas of statistics, epidemiology, and programming. Through synergized efforts, the Data Services track has the ability to:
- Advance the interpretation/analysis of multiple data sets to address the four E’s of traffic safety (education, enforcement, engineering, and EMS) , providing State and local level outputs
- Provide statistical analyses needed to evaluate legislative and programmatic initiatives and support highway safety policy decisions
- Serve as data support services for the Maryland Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP)
- Continue coordination of the statewide seat belt observational survey methodology and survey design infrastructure
- Provide data factsheets in support of partner agencies
- Serve as a data and analytical resource for State agencies, such as the Highway Safety Office, Motor Vehicle Administration

The Maryland Crash Profile counts and summarizes crash information for all of the drivers, vehicles, pedestrians and occupants associated with the selected crashes. The Accident Profile breaks down and counts five distinct categories of information for analysis. These categories are: General Accident Information; Driver / Vehicle Information; Pedestrian Information; Occupant Information; and Contributing Circumstances. |
