BRAAN LOGIN
As of 11:59 pm on Monday, November 30, 2009, BRAAN will be INACTIVATED and will be available as "Read Only."
This means that YOU WILL BE UNABLE TO SUBMIT ANY TRANSACTIONS in BRAAN after that date. This includes new studies, continuing renewals, modifications, reportable events, and closure reports.
Therefore, ALL PROTOCOLS still active in BRAAN must be CONVERTED to CICERO AS SOON AS POSSIBLE REGARDLESS OF THE EXPIRATION DATE assigned to your current study.
For example, if your study expires February 2010, you must still convert it to CICERO before November 30, 2009 as you will have no means for submitting further transactions in BRAAN.
If you have a study in BRAAN, that has been determined to be "Exempt", it does not have to be converted into CICERO unless you anticipate any modifications to the study after November 30, 2009.
If you need additional assistance with the conversion process, please view the instructional videos on the HRPO website:

The HIPAA Form link in BRAAN is non-functional. Download the HIPAA form from the "Investigator's Toolkit" section of this Website, or by clicking HERE. Complete the form, and upload it into Section S.
The Printable Version of the Consent Form in BRAAN may not always work correctly. Occasionally, you will see a red "X" in the window instead of the CF. This usually occurs because the Java version being used on your computer is out-of-date. Here is the solution: : Click on this link: http://medschool.umaryland.edu/hrpo/j2.exe . Click RUN, and install the Java Pack by choosing INSTALL – ACCEPT – and NEXT. After the installation has finished, reboot your pc. Go back into BRAAN and pull up your printable version of the consent form. When prompted, click ALWAYS in the box that asks if you want to run the viewer.
The Pop-up Notepad feature used to add text in certain sections when creating or amending a protocol doesn't always save your work when you click the SAVE button. We recommend that you type or copy/paste right into the text block provided.
Attachments in Section S: BRAAN is not uploading all attachments in Section S correctly. When the attachment that has been uploaded in Section S is viewed, an error occurs with the message "Page Cannot Be Displayed." We believe this is due to the server timing out and not uploading the attachment fast enough. If you are having problems uploading an attachment, please burn the file to a CD and deliver to the HRPO. We will attach it for you.
Consent Forms: BRAAN is automatically adding an additional signature line labeled "Other" to the signature block of all consent forms. Investigators should ignore the extra line unless it is required for a witness or legally authorized representative.
The Study Schedule Builder in section F4 is cumbersome and doesn't always work correctly. We recommend that you create your Study Schedule in MS Word or Excel, and attach and upload it into Section S.
