Director's Welcome

Dr. Claudia BaquetWelcome to the Maryland Regional Community Network!

The Maryland Regional Community Network (MRCN) Program to Eliminate Cancer Health Disparities builds upon two existing Networks: the NCI-supported Maryland Special Populations Network and the Cigarette Restitution Fund's Program funded University of Maryland Statewide Health Network.

We focus on five geographic regions of the state, and several target populations which include the medically underserved, African-American, Hispanic/Latino, Native American, Appalachian, rural communities and individuals with low socioeconomic status. In collaboration with our regional partners, we have successfully developed a robust and sustainable community-based infrastructure that fosters enhanced community capacity, research and training aimed to address and eliminate Maryland’s cancer disparities.

We invite you to browse through our web site and contact us for additional information.

Kind regards,

Claudia R. Baquet, M.D., M.P.H.
Professor of Medicine, Professor of Epidemiology and Preventive Meidicine, Associate Dean for Policy and Planning, Director, UM NIH Comprehensive Center (Export) for Health Disparities Research, Outreach and Training
