Adjunctive Galantamine for Cognitive Impairments
Anticholinergic agents improve cognitive function, and several have been approved for the treatment of cognitive impairments in patients' with Alzheimer's disease. The ORP has recently completed a study with one of these agents, galantamine (Reminyl). The study was a double blind, randomly assigned adjunctive treatment trial designed to test whether galantamine may improve cognitive function in patients with schizophrenia.
Data analysis is currently underway, and preliminary analysis may available in the spring of 2007. More information can be obtained from Dr. Robert Buchanan, Primary Investigator.
