RESEARCH INTERESTS
Lori Fantry, MD, MPH has been involved in the field of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) since 1998. Currently, she is the medical director of the Institute of Human Virology (IHV)/University of Maryland Infectious Diseases Clinic. She has helped catalyzed the growth of this program from 500 patients to more than 1,800 patients. This clinic serves 800 women annually. She began the IHV Women's Health Initiative which provides for a ½ day clinic for women only, pelvic exams and Pap smears, colposcopy serves at the same site as HIV primary care, contraceptive services, and services to pregnant women. She is the principle investigator for over $1 million in Ryan White funding. She is actively involved with teaching medical students, residents, infectious diseases fellows, and attendings through direct patient care and didactic lectures. Her research interests include HIV and menopause, HIV and women, primary care of HIV, providing access to services for underserved patients, and HIV and gastroenterology.
