Neurophysiological Laboratory

Through collaboration with the Maryland Psychiatric Research Center (MPRC), neuropsychological measures are a new addition to resources available to GCRC investigators. Under the direction of Gunvant Thaker, MD, the MPRC Neurophysiological Laboratory uses state-of-the-art, non-invasive instruments to evaluate eye movements, sensory gating (pre-pulse inhibition), eye-blink conditioning and other electrophysiological measures.

The laboratory is able to sensitively measure saccadic and smooth pursuit eye movements, pupillary diameter and several evoked potential measures. These measures have shown to be important alternative phenotypes that are useful in studies of the pathophysiology and genetic risk of several psychiatric illnesses.

Please contact Dr. Thaker to gain access to the Neurophysiological Laboratory resources and discuss cost.
