The primary purpose of the Biostatistics staff of the General Clinical Research Center (GCRC) is to support clinical research projects within the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Our aim is to provide clinical investigators with statistical support throughout the entire research process, including planning and design before the study is funded. Any clinical study that is planning to utilize GCRC resources in some way is eligible for biostatistical assistance.

Investigators, especially fellows and junior faculty, are encouraged to initiate collaboration with the Biostatistics staff as early as possible in the study planning stage.

Services include support for:

  • Proposal preparation
  • Study design
  • Sample size/power analysis
  • Specification of statistical methods
  • Data analysis consultation, but not statistical programming
  • Assistance with reports/manuscripts
  • Assistance with tables/graphs
  • Description of statistical methods
  • Summarization of results
