Johns Hopkins Bayview Biochemistry Laboratory

Through an agreement with the Johns Hopkins Bayview GCRC, University of Maryland investigators can send research specimens to the Bayview GCRC Core Biochemistry Lab to perform special biochemistry assays. A list of available assays is on the Johns Hopkins Bayview GCRC website.

The Bayview Core Lab Director should be contacted to discuss current test availability, specimen requirements and cost.

Protocols must be approved by the University of Maryland IRB and GCRC Advisory Committee before being eligible to use the Bayview Biochemistry Lab. A copy of the approval letters must be submitted to the Bayview lab with the specimens.

The GCRC does not have resources to pay for the cost of the Bayview assays; investigators must pay for the assays out of their individual grants. Investigators are responsible for arranging specimen transport and assay requests directly with the Bayview Core Lab.

Please note that the JH Bayview Core lab is not CLIA certified, and therefore results cannot be used to make clinical decisions or be communicated to patients or care providers.
