Application Process
First-time GCRC users are encouraged to meet with one of the Program Administrative Staff before submitting an application. Please call the GCRC Administrative office at 410-328-7369 to speak with a team member.
Requirements
1. The protocol must have UMB IRB approval. The application may be started prior to IRB approval and then submitted when full IRB approval is granted.
2. A physician who has privileges at UMMC must be included in the IRB-approved protocol for medical coverage of study subjects.
Application Process
All projects using GCRC resources must be approved by the General Clinical Research Center Advisory Committee (GAC). Exceptions to this include consultation with the Bioinformatics and/or Biostatistical Core Directors, which is encouraged during the grant or protocol writing phase. The process for gaining access to GCRC resources is as follows:
1. Complete and submit the online application (eGAC).
2. Completed applications undergo a preliminary review, and any outstanding questions will be resolved before full GCRC Advisory Committee (GAC) review.

3. The GAC meets the third Tuesday of each month to review applications passing the preliminary review. At the meeting, the Advisory Committee will vote on the one of the following actions: Approve; Approve with Required Contingencies; Defer; or Disapprove.
4. Written notification of the Committee's action will be sent within two weeks of the meeting date. The letter will indicate which resources have been approved and the extent to which the GCRC will be able to provide these resources.
5. Once final approval has been given, investigators are provided contact information for the appropriate GCRC director to initiate study visits or other resource utilization.
